Nissan Kicks Review by AutoXion

In terms of size, the Nissan Kicks is larger than the other vehicles in its segment, but looks compact. In terms of design, it does not look like an SUV with rough and tough looks, but looks much closer to a crossover.

being developed by people. For example, now people in this segment have moved from the looks of a rough and tough SUV to a slightly trendy and crossover look. The success of Tata's Nexon is an example of this. Now Nissan has played a similar bet. Nissan's new SUV Kicks: What is special and what are the deficiencies, let us know in this test ride report:

Size big but compact looksIn terms of size, the Kicks is larger than the other vehicles in its segment, but it looks compact in appearance. In terms of design, it does not look like an SUV with rough and tough looks, but looks much closer to a crossover. Nissan's design team has taken the right path according to the changing test. Those who are going in the SUV segment from sedan or hatchbuck, also will not feel awkward and the SUV comes with a tussle. The dual tone of silver that has been given with orange in it, makes it in the line of India's most beautiful looking vehicles at the moment. The front and back design looks quite trendy, although the taillights could have been improved further. Usually the side profiles of most of the vehicles are quite dull looking, but the side profiles of this vehicle have also been greatly improved.

Attempts to make the cabin a premium have been made to keep theinterior slightly simple and classy. Quality and fit-finish are not compromised. Leather has been heavily used in the top variant, which certainly helps make its cabin look like premium cars. In the case of space also, it can be given whole numbers. The front seats are quite comfortable and the rear seats can also seat three. However, during a long journey, two people are more comfortable.

Power, ride and handling, its seating position is also similar to a proper SUV, the view is quite good. We reviewed its 1.5-liter diesel engine variant equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which gives a maximum power of 109 bhp and torque of 240 Nm. However, it also has the option of a 1.5-liter petrol engine. The diesel engine has proven itself in vehicles like the Duster and Captur.

There is no shortage in terms of power, but in terms of smoothness, it is definitely less, especially if compared to the engine of Creta. The suspension is tuned in such a way that the comfort level remains when passing through bad roads and pits and the handling is also not affected significantly. There is a slight body roll, but at high speed and sharp turns, this vehicle maintains a strong grip. The 210mm ground clearance also makes it a successful vehicle for light off-roading.

FEATURES The8-inch touchscreen not only gives its interior a modern look, but it also has features like Apple Car Play and Android Auto. However, we found the sound quality to be average. Features like dual airbags, ABS-EBD, Nissan Connect, Auto AC and reverse parking sensors are standard. The top variants also get features from four airbags, cruise control, auto LED projector headlamps, hill hold assist, vehicle dynamic control, 17 inch alloy wheels, cornering lamps.

However, there are some drawbacks such as sunroof, wireless charging, curtain airbags and the lack of disc brakes on all four wheels. An attempt has been made to remove it by giving 360 degree parking camera, this feature is usually seen only in luxury cars. This is not only an upmarket feature, but after being used to it, you get a lot of ease in parking in tight spaces.

The competition is tough.
Nissan has launched an SUV in the form of kicks, which in most cases stands out, but it is not easy to challenge a strong player like Creta. However, the good thing is that not many options are available in this segment. Apart from Creta, it will compete directly with Renault Capture. Top variants of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSports may also compete with some of its variants. In price, it is equal to the Creta, but some extras have been tried in the features and after sales experience. Its base and mid variants are also equipped with the most important safety and comfort features. Now it will be interesting to see how and how much it is able to shock Creta.
